The Seiberling Mansion History
The Seiberling Mansion is a historic house located at Kokomo, Indiana. This mansion was built in 1890. It is now the Howard County Historical Museum. Mr. Monroe Seiberling traveled to Kokomo in 1887. Monroe opened the Kokomo Strawboard Company which would make shoeboxes out of straw. He sold the Kokomo Strawboard Company after 6 months. In addition, Mr. Seiberling then opened the Diamond Plate Glass Company. He began construction on his mansion in October 1889. The cost was $50,000. The mansion was completed within two years. Neo-Jacobean and Romanesque Revival styles are the mansion’s architectural style. As a side note, In 1972, the Seiberling Mansion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
